The TurboMed XTERN is an ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) specifically designed for people affected by foot drop and dorsiflexion weakness.
Unlike traditional braces that are worn inside the shoe and in contact with the skin, the TurboMed is mounted entirely on the outside of the footwear, providing a spring-like lift to the foot with no direct skin contact which maximises comfort and reduces the risk of skin irritation or pressure sores.
Whether walking, running, hiking, or tackling uneven terrain, the TurboMed XTERN allows for natural ankle movement and full plantar flexion, helping maintain calf muscle strength and ankle joint mobility. It has been tested in marathons, triathlons, and rugged wilderness conditions, proving its durability and effectiveness in real-life environments.
The TurboMed is also compatible with high-cut boots, making it suitable for outdoor, winter, or industrial environments.
