PhysioFunction utilises advanced rehabilitation technology to help our clients improve/regain mobility, strength, and independence.
We carefully select equipment that ensures that a wide range of clients, from those rehabilitating after a Stroke or Spinal Cord Injury, to clients with conditions such as Parkinson’s or Multiple Sclerosis receive the most effective treatment.
One of the key technologies we use is functional electrical stimulation (FES), which helps assist the activity in weak or paralysed muscles. Devices such as the RT300 FES bike from Restorative Therapies, delivers a small electrical current to a nerve via sticky pads placed on the skin. The stimulated nerve in turn activates the muscles that it supplies. When this is coupled with a power-assisted static bike, coordinated muscle contractions can be achieved that are capable of producing strong pedal strokes sufficient to perform a cycling action. FES foot drop stimulators such as Bioness Go work by stimulating the nerves and muscles responsible for lifting the foot which helps clients achieve a smoother, more natural gait, making walking safer and more efficient.
We also use robotic-assisted rehabilitation, including Exoskeletons (REX, ReWalk and FreeWalk), which can benefit individuals with mobility difficulties, helping to increase the time spent on their feet with less fatigue, practising balance and strengthening exercises in standing and walking with motorised support, to either help improve what can be achieved without the exoskeleton, or provide a means of upright mobility, such as would be required after complete spinal cord injury.
Virtual reality (VR) and computer-based rehabilitation systems are integrated to make therapy engaging and effective, helping with balance, coordination, and cognitive function. We also utilise advanced treadmills with body-weight support systems such as the AlterG or Litegait, allowing clients to safely practice walking and build confidence.
PhysioFunction takes great care in selecting the right technology for our clients, ensuring each piece of equipment is versatile and beneficial for multiple conditions. By carefully assessing individual needs, we maximise the effectiveness of our technology, providing tailored rehabilitation that enhances recovery and improves quality of life.
We can also provide advice and guidance on technology that can be utilised from home such as Gripable, EStim and Saebo products.
PhysioFunction have a specialist interest and expertise in rehabilitation technology. We have a wide range of equipment that can help promote rehabilitation outcomes and function. The use of technology may also assist in day to day activities that may otherwise not be possible.
We ensure our clients receive the most clinically correct rehabilitation technology suited to their needs.
