I recently took my first overseas holiday since I had a stroke. Before travelling it was obvious my left leg was benefitting from strengthening exercises in the pool. I was concerned how I would manage the pool on holiday, and after talking it through with Kirsten she suggested I use an ankle weight to help manage my worry, and she helped me practice pool walking. When I arrived on my holiday, I was able to access the pool via steps with the weight helping to keep my foot down. Using the pool several times a day ensured I fully enjoyed my time there. I cannot thank Kirsten enough for her time with me and would highly recommend it as therapy option. It certainly ensured I fully enjoyed this special time.
My sincere thanks to both Alison and Guy for their tremendous support given to me with regards my ongoing battle with Parkinsons.
Diagnosed 17 years ago, I have been accessing Physiofunction for the last 2 years. I am convinced that Alison’s support has helped me and my wife cope with what is a frustrating and mysterious heath condition. We have always found her to be encouraging and positive when treating me and her ongoing treatment has certainly helped in my quest to stay mobile.
Guy (University student) provided information and ideas on Parkinsons rehab gained during his time in the States. I found this to be both beneficial and motivating and will be introducing some of his ideas into my Personal Training going forward.
"I am a polio / post polio sufferer of over 60 years. I have been extremely fortunate to have joined a polio group from Northampton. I have been attending hydro sessions with Kirsten for a number of months and can honestly say that my physical therapy sessions have worked wonders for me and also my mental wellbeing have improved immensely over the months since starting. Kirsten has great knowledge of different disabilities and a caring and bubbly personality that comes out in her hard work."
" Since joining the BPF Hydro programme under Kirsten my confidence to undertake exercises in the pool has increase significantly. I have become aware that both my upper and lower limbs have benefitted, as has my overall balance both in and out of the pool. I have enjoyed the ability to carry out a number of activities in the pool without the need for walking aids. The games arranged in the pool at the end of each session by Kirsten are fun, and a good laugh which helps me manage my condition. The Hydrotherapy sessions under the instruction of Kirsten have contributed significantly to my “wellbeing” which I am pleased with. "
“The sessions have certainly helped no end. I have learned more exercises to strengthen and stretch out the problem areas plus become much more aware of my posture. The stuff we went through was super helpful to underpin my thinking and know what to focus on.”

I love PFit! I find it really beneficial for my rehab and because of the work I have done with Keiran I am in great physical condition. I am delighted with PFit!!
PhysioFunction’s hydrotherapy sessions with Kirsten are excellent. They are person centred and well managed with the right balance and pace of activities. The hydro pool facilities are of a high standard. The changing and pool area is clean and well maintained. Thank you Kirsten for your professional input and making such a marked improvement.
“Many thanks for your help, I won’t forget that it was Emma at PhysioFunction who pressed for me to see Nick Birch in the first place for a second opinion - and in doing so saved me from unnecessary surgery”.
I cannot thank and praise PhysioFunction enough, especially Taher and Michelle, for everything they have done for me over the past two years. Spinal cord compression had resulted in me losing the use of my legs. I received emergency spinal surgery and subsequent radiotherapy but the prognosis was uncertain with no indication of how much mobility I may recover. I was fortunate to discover the PhysioFunction website and soon assessed by Taher to begin treatment. Both Taher and Michelle have been amazing, inspiring and encouraging every step of the way in my rehab. Their skills have helped put me back on my feet and now slowly and carefully walking with the aid of a stick.
I was advised by East Midlands Spinal clinic as he highly recommended PhysioFunction to help deal with my Guillain Barre Syndrome.
Since attending weekly session with Taher and the diverse equipment available to aid with recovery, it demonstrates that using the right type of physiotherapy company who have expert knowledge in all aspects of health makes a difference to people's lives.
We were signposted to PhysioFunction following diagnosis & surgery for
Glioblastoma brain tumour. Our family take independence

Brain damage from the tumour left me with aphasia (loss of speech) & Claire gave me time & space to get my words out! Claire is knowledgeable, friendly, experienced & professional. During Covid the team have ‘been there’ for me! Thank-you so much for zoom calls, face-to-face appointments & recommendations of kit & exercise. I am now mostly self-sufficient again. I can nearly get dressed independently, play golf and have a degree of normality back in my life.” Mike, PhysioFunction Client, who had a stroke in 2003.
I took my mum (spinal cord injury at C4 incomplete - tetraplegic) to use the hydro pool with physio Michelle. What an absolutely amazing session, Michelle's knowledge of SCI was refreshing and both mum and I felt totally at ease with her. Mum had her injury last year, and to be able to get her in a pool and stimulate walking for the first time what an absolute miracle! Thank you so much x
The FES device PhysioFunction have assessed me for and fitted has improved my walking style and helped my painful back.
Meg, talking about the Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) ODFS Pace
A weakness down my right-hand side is the only lasting damage (of which I am having physio for), and now 6 years later, thanks to my wonderful medical team, I am almost back to living a normal life! Words cannot express the respect I have for the Medical Professionals. Without their expert skills, who knows what may have happened? I will be forever thankful to all these amazing people and my friends and family who have shown their tremendous love and support throughout my life. I know I have been lucky enough to have been given a second chance and I’m going to make the most of that!
Emily‘s Father Paul stated when asked if he would recommend PhysioFunction ‘Absolutely!' The physiotherapists are friendly and the sessions are tailor made to suit the needs of each individual.
