Neurological Physiotherapist & Accredited Aquatic Physiotherapist

Kirsten has worked for 16 years in the NHS and private sector specialising in Neurological Physiotherapy and Aquatic Physiotherapy - 10 years of this working at PhysioFunction. Her passion for Neurological Physiotherapy developed when she worked on the Acute Stroke Unit and Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at Leicester General Hospital. Since then, she has worked with many different neurological patients within community settings, long term disability management and Neurological Outpatients.

Kirsten employs a combination of hands-on therapy (Bobath and Neuromuscular Energising Therapy (NET)) and technology. She is trained in the use of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) Foot Drop,lower limb rehabilitation and upper limb rehabilitation. Kirsten has also undergone further post-graduate training in Aquatic Physiotherapy for Neurological Conditions and treats neurological clients in the hydrotherapy pool at our clinic in Moulton, Northamptonshire. She completed her accreditation under the ATACP (Aquatic Therapy Association of Chartered Physiotherapists) and has also sat on the committee for the past year. In May 2017 Kirsten undertook training the Halliwick Concept which is an approach to teaching all people, in particular, focusing on those with physical and/or learning difficulties, to take part in water activities, to move independently in water, and to swim.

Her professional activities include:

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Committee member of the Aquatic Therapy Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (ATACP)
  • Invited speaker at Therapy Expo 2016

Kirsten is based at our PhysioFunction Spratton, Northamptonshire and PhysioFunction, The Chris Moody Centre, Moulton, Northants clinics.
