THREE years ago Jeff Harris was a busy professional with a high-flying career as a research physicist. He was a keen amateur athlete who had competed in 14 city marathons, completing each course in less than four hours. But as he was preparing for his latest marathon attempt, it all came to an abrupt end in November 2006, when, without warning, he suffered a major haemorrhagic cerebrovascular accident – a stroke – with devastating consequences.
